In line with its recent activities regarding local and regional sustainable development issues and challenges, the research institute for science, technology and industry policy of SUT became a member of global Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN)
According to public relations report, this membership paves the way for the research institute for science, technology and industry policy to have effective cooperation with international institutions regarding studying methods of developing scientific solutions to reach sustainable development goals in Iran and the world.
The sustainable development solutions network was established in 2012 with the declaration of Ban Ki-moon, the United Nations secretary-general, aiming to integrate and make use of scientific and technological expertise in the world to achieve sustainable development goals. The network is striving to propose comprehensive, viable, and international solutions to the tough challenges that the world faces today (economic, social, and environmental) by conducting studies among the relevant scientific and international institutions and using their expertise and experiences.
By 2016, the secretariat of SDSN was located at Colombia University. From June 2016, the secretariat of this institution together with SDG academy were moved to SDSN association and the cities of Paris and New York. Currently, a plethora of activities of this network is followed by its subsidiaries in different regions of the world. The network has more than 1200 members today (most of them are academic institutions) organized by regional and national secretariats.
According to the available information on SDSN website, before the research institute for science, technology and industry policy of SUT, four institutions of sustainable development office (affiliated with Amirkabir University), and Research institute of Food Science and Technology (Mashhad), Institute for Environmental Research and Sustainable Development (affiliated with the Department of Environment and Academic center for Education for, Culture, and Research) had also joined this network.
