Fazlollah Reza served as the second former President of Sharif University of Technology. Prof. Reza, Distinguished Professor at the University of Tehran and McGill University, and a true pioneer in the field of Network and Information Theory died on Tuesday, 19 November 2019, at the age of 104.
Born and raised in Rasht, Prof. Reza earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tehran in 1938, Master of Science degree in Electronics from Columbia University in 1946 and an MD in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of New York in 1950.
Fazlollah Reza devoted his professional life to scientific research and teaching. He has taught, conducted research and contributed to the advancement of science for more than four decades in leading scientific centers of Iran, the United States, Europe, and Canada.
He is internationally recognized for his contributions to the Theory of Electrical Circuits and Systems, Information Theory, Cybernetics, and related Applied Mathematics. His scientific contributions, papers, and books have received international recognition.
Besides his scientific career, Fazlollah Reza was a devoted scholar of Persian literature and philosophy. His books and articles on Persian literature have earned him a place of distinction in Persian literary circles.
